She had a breakthrough in 1995 when she was cast in the HBO sketch comedy series Mr. Show with Bob and David, on which she played a variety of characters throughout the series’ run.
In the meantime, she continued to pursue her interest in painting and started to take classes at the San Francisco Art Institute.
During the early nineties, she began to do stand-up comedy at several open mics in San Francisco. She eventually moved to Los Angeles and took on a role as a booking assistant on another HBO sketch comedy show, “The Larry Sanders Show.”
Her performance on the show earned her a recurring role on Mr. Show, and she subsequently began appearing in other shows on the network.
