There are many numismatic tools available to help you find the right coins for your collection. Thousands of books on American coins are available, including the Cherrypickers’ Guide to Rare Die Varieties of United States Coins by J.T. Stanton and Bill Fivaz. Another excellent reference is Walter Breen’s Complete Encyclopedia of U.S. and Colonial Coins. Unfortunately, this resource is now out of print.
The Large Cent is a very rare coin. This series is one of the most studied coins in the world, and even the rarest examples can fetch up to six figures. However, the Large Cent is not the only series of coins worth hunting down. Many other series of coins have more fruitful searching opportunities. The modern numismatic research has resulted in dozens of new numismatic books. In addition to coin grading, there are also coin values.
